Welcome

Welcome to "inner whispers" ... a sharing of personal meditative insights and a guide to help you listen to your own deepest wisdom. This blog is written as a gift. Many of my clients and students have asked me to share my insights with a wider audience in written form. I hope that by doing so, I inspire followers to connect with and value their own "inner whispers."

Through my practice of meditation, I seem to clear away the noise of day-to-day existence and enter a space of profound silence. It is from that space that I hear the sweet voice of my internal wisdom. At times, I am offered messages of love and support for my personal well-being. At times, I receive wisdom that relates to loved ones, friends, clients, students, and the world in general. Sometimes the messages are humorous. Sometimes, quite serious. Always, well worth my attention. After 30+ years of meditation, I have come to trust the wisdom of that quiet whisper. Here's how you can begin to open to the whispers of your inner wisdom:

Begin by sitting comfortably upright, noticing the movement of your breath. Quiet your internal chatter by keeping a gentle focus on your inhale and exhale. Don’t be concerned if mundane chatter rattles around inside with even greater zeal for a while. Simply notice the quality of its insistence. Try silently labeling each inhale and exhale as they come and go. Expect nothing. Simply breathe and notice. Breathe and notice. Continue for 2 or 3 minutes if you are new to meditation. (You may want to set a timer.) If you are an experienced meditator you may extend this exercise to 5, 10, or 20 minutes. In time (perhaps days, weeks, or even months) you will experience a profound silence. Sit in this silence and listen.

Repeat this practice daily. It could take some time before the voice of your internal wisdom trusts that you will regularly sit down to listen. One day, probably when you least expect it, you will hear it … clear as a bell, sweet as a love song. Listen carefully, respectfully, gratefully. ~ Namaste ~
