Mushrooms!

It's been a while since my last post. Life has been demanding. My meditations lately have been serving to keep me centered through stressful times. Sitting in stillness helps me stay grounded and when life becomes a whirlwind, there is nothing more useful. But, as the wise will tell us, too much of a good thing can eventually bog us down. Yesterday I had a desire to put my feet to the ground in the woods near my house so I decided on a walking meditation.

Even before I entered the woods I could feel my energy recharging. The colors, the scents, the sounds engulfed my senses and filled me with joy and wonder. I love autumn in the woods! Everywhere there are reminders of impermanence and the natural cycle of life. Leaves drift downward from their beloved trees to join the soil and become nourishment. Mushrooms crop up, almost magically, in an endless array of shapes, colors and sizes.
If you get close enough to a cluster of mushrooms you can hear their whispers. They hold the secrets to a life well lived.

The next time you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or uninspired, I recommend a walk in the woods. Open your eyes and ears to an entire world! Listen carefully to the whispers of life all around you ... in a cluster of mushrooms, or fallen leaves beneath your feet. Wisdom awaits. All you need do is open to it.
